Fifty Shades of Grey Star Has Had It with “Tying Women to Beds” All Day

Between starring in Fifty Shades of Grey—the upcoming adaptation of the most ravenously consumed mommy-porn novel of all time—and the next season of The Fall, as a serial killer who ties up his victims—British model turned actor Jamie Dornan is pretty tired of stringing up women, regardless of his character’s intentions after that. So forgive him if he sounds a bit burnt out on the whole bonding-females-to-bed thing, in a new interview with The Guardian.
The former Calvin Klein model concedes that he has spent a little too much time with rope and wrists recently. “There are a couple of classic knots I know now,” says the 31-year-old, “and I’ve put them to good use far too many times recently. In fact I’d like to do a job where I don’t have to tie women to beds.”
“I’m tired. I’m tired,” he later says, referencing his “mad year, professionally, personally” as the star of Fifty Shades of Grey, a part-time serial killer, and a first-time father, after his wife, Amelia Warner, gave birth to a daughter in November.
Ironically though, it is Dornan whose hands are tied, when it comes to talking about his biggest film project to date and one of the primary sources of his exhaustion. When asked about Fifty Shades of Grey, the actor says, “I don’t think I’m allowed to say anything, mate.” And yet the scale of the project, and the attention he’s received for it, does seem to weigh on him. “The whole thing’s ridiculous,” he says. “It’s just all a bit silly the way it works . . . I think I could lose my mind.”
Fifty Shades of Grey arrives in theaters on February 13 next year.
